St David's Hotel Cardiff Bay Wedding Photography | Sophie & David

Sophie and David contacted me after being referred by a friend to discuss their wedding photography plans for their marriage that was to take place at the beautiful five star St David's Hotel in Cardiff Bay.

Wedding photography at five star hotel

As arguably Cardiff's finest hotel, it's always a joy to shoot a wedding at the stunning St David's Hotel venue.

On this particular occasion, Sophie and David were lucky to have a lovely weather - warm, dry, a mild breeze throughout and some lovely sun to work with later in the day.

The wedding and reception all took place within the hotel, which always makes things very straight-forward as far as a photographer is concerned! No dashing around between houses, church and reception venues - though I will admit I do enjoy the thrill of a fast paced wedding just as much as I enjoy these more chilled out one-venue affairs!

I simply captured the early bridal preparation at one property, then headed over to capture some of the groom preparation at a different nearby property, before heading to the hotel for final bridal preparation shots with Sophie as she continued getting ready in the bridal suite.

Before long, the bride-to-be was looking glamorous in her gorgeous wedding dress as I continued to capture the rest of the day as it naturally unfolded.

The local bay surroundings and Cardiff Bay Wetlands Reserve served as our location for much of the couple shots following the service and reception with the soft afternoon sun, along with a stroll around the perimeter of the hotel itself thanks to a pathway that loops around.

All in all, the conditions were great, the bride, groom, and guests all appeared to enjoy a fabulous time and as always, it was a true honour to be a part of their big day and capture some of the most important moments - moments that I hope they will both fondly enjoy looking back at for many years to come.
